Chelsea have entered the race for AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, with the Blues reportedly making contact over a possible late-window move for the Senegal international.
Camara has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time, and he has now emerged as a potential late opportunity for the Reds. Reports say the midfielder has been offered to both Liverpool and Chelsea as Monaco consider whether to sell before the transfer window closes.
Chelsea’s interest is particularly significant because Enzo Fernández could be heading to Manchester City. Chelsea are therefore exploring midfield replacements, with Camara reportedly one of the players being considered.
The 22-year-old Senegal international is reportedly valued in the region of €40m–€60m (£34m–£51m), depending on the report. Crystal Palace have already shown interest and reportedly had a bid rejected earlier this month.
However, there is an important caveat: Monaco have not confirmed that they have received a formal offer for Camara. Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro has said he hopes the midfielder remains at the club and indicated that Camara is expected to stay unless an exceptional offer arrives.
Liverpool could have an advantage because they can offer Champions League football, but Chelsea’s late involvement could make this a very interesting battle as the transfer deadline approaches.
Bottom line: Chelsea have joined Liverpool in the race for Camara, but no completed transfer has been agreed yet. Monaco’s asking price and how urgently Chelsea need a replacement for Fernández could determine what happens next.
