Liverpool Receive Huge Injury Boost as Three Players Set to Return This Season
Liverpool could reportedly welcome Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley back into action during the current campaign, providing a major boost to an already stretched squad.
The Reds ended the transfer window without adding a right winger, midfielder or right-back, leaving gaps that could become problematic as the season progresses.
Liverpool were reportedly involved in a late attempt to bring in Chelsea’s Malo Gusto on loan, but a deal failed to materialise.
With no further additions made, Liverpool will now have to rely on their existing squad while hoping injured players gradually return.
According to The Times, Liverpool expect Ekitike, Leoni and Bradley to feature for a significant portion of the season despite all three currently being sidelined.
The trio have suffered lengthy injury lay-offs. Ekitike has been out since April, Bradley since the beginning of the year, while Leoni has been unavailable since September last year.
There remains uncertainty over exactly when each player will return and how long it will take them to regain full match fitness.
Leoni is reportedly the closest to a comeback, although Liverpool are expected to avoid rushing him. Ekitike could potentially return closer to Christmas, while Bradley’s situation remains the biggest question mark.
There have been relatively few updates on Bradley’s injury, making his recovery timeline difficult to predict.
Liverpool’s failed attempt to strengthen at right-back could have raised concerns, but the latest suggestion that Bradley could still play a sizeable part of the season is being viewed as very encouraging news for the Reds.
