Richarlison appears headed for an exit at Tottenham, with reports linking him to a move to Trabzonspor after emerging as one of the biggest deadline-day stories.
A return to Everton had looked likely at one stage, with those talks running alongside Spurs’ pursuit of Iliman N’Diaye — Tottenham were said to have a deal in principle agreed for N’Diaye (who eventually signed for Manchester City in a £65m move) but were holding off for the player’s approval. That changed when Richarlison took to Instagram to rule out any switch to Everton, criticising how negotiations with his former club were being conducted.
Since Turkey’s window doesn’t shut until midnight on September 4, Transfermarkt reports he could still end up at Trabzonspor, teaming up with Mohamed Salah in a formidable attack. The switch would reportedly nearly triple his current wages at Spurs, said to be around £100,000 a week — though Tottenham are yet to agree a fee, having already knocked back bids of £15m and £20m from the Turkish club.
De Zerbi had said during pre-season that Richarlison wanted to leave this summer, though it later emerged Everton wasn’t actually his preferred destination. In his translated Instagram statement, Richarlison said any exit would need to benefit the club as much as him, pointed to how he’d stayed and given everything during Tottenham’s harder times, and asked to be treated with the same respect in return — stressing the choice over his future shouldn’t be made for him.
Elsewhere, Spurs did get a deadline-day deal over the line, landing Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk on loan in a surprise late move. The winger links back up with De Zerbi, having thrived under him previously at Shakhtar Donetsk, becoming the final piece of a window in which Tottenham smashed their own transfer spending record.
