Tottenham Hotspur suffered yet another injury blow in their Premier League meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers, as Dominic Solanke was forced off with a suspected leg problem. The 28-year-old started in an unchanged attacking trio alongside Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons at Molineux, but Spurs’ hopes of building on their recent 2-2 draw with Brighton quickly faded.
The first half was underwhelming, and things took a turn for the worse just before halftime when Solanke went down, appearing to pick up a hamstring issue. After receiving treatment, he was substituted for Richarlison in the 40th minute.
If it turns out to be a minor hamstring strain, Solanke could be sidelined for at least two weeks, likely missing the trip to Aston Villa on May 3 and the key home clash against Leeds United on May 11. However, a more serious injury—such as a partial tear or rupture—could rule him out for the rest of the season, including matches against Chelsea and Everton later in May.
This latest setback adds to growing concerns for Roberto De Zerbi. Signed for a club-record fee from Bournemouth in 2024, Solanke played a vital role in Tottenham’s Europa League success, registering nine goal contributions in 13 games. But this season has been disrupted by injuries, including ankle surgery, limiting him to just six goals in 20 appearances.
Since arriving at Spurs, Solanke has already missed 48 games for club and country due to fitness problems, and that number now looks set to increase. With his injury struggles continuing, De Zerbi may be forced to explore other options, although Tottenham’s transfer plans could depend heavily on their league status for next season.
