Tottenham are in the middle of a significant squad overhaul as they look to recover from back-to-back 17th-place finishes and force their way back into Premier League contention.
The club have already moved quickly in the transfer market, bringing in Andy Robertson — whose deal is officially done — and Marcos Senesi, whose arrival is expected to be rubber-stamped soon. Defensively, Spurs are also pushing for Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke, though an initial bid has been turned down.
But Tottenham’s ambitions don’t stop at the back. Roberto De Zerbi is equally keen to add firepower going forward, and one name generating genuine excitement is Crysencio Summerville.
The Dutch winger has been on Spurs’ radar for a while, with links dating back to January. Since his move from Leeds United to West Ham, the 24-year-old has grown into a reliable Premier League performer, shining particularly brightly in the second half of last season. Despite his impact, the Hammers couldn’t avoid the drop — and with relegation comes the need to sell.
According to The Athletic, while West Ham intend to hold onto Jarrod Bowen and Mateus Fernandes, Summerville is widely expected to leave this summer, potentially opening the door for Tottenham to finally get their man. Aston Villa are also circling, though, so Spurs may need to act fast.
Summerville brings exactly the kind of energy De Zerbi loves — direct running, sharp dribbling, creativity in tight spaces, and the ability to drift into midfield. He finished last season with seven goals and five assists, and capped it off with a senior Netherlands debut against Algeria, earning praise for his ability to stretch defences and win duels.
The one complication is squad depth. With Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel, and Richarlison all capable of playing on the left, Tottenham may need to move some players on before adding another wide option. How they manage that balance could determine whether the Summerville deal gets over the line.
