Fabrizio Romano has reported that a Liverpool player is ‘keen’ on a summer departure and has even turned to a teammate at Anfield for advice about the potential move.
The transfer expert had earlier revealed that Inter Milan are interested in Curtis Jones, who could become a “very interesting option” as he enters the final year of his Liverpool contract. He is not the only Reds player attracting attention from Italy, with Como also said to be monitoring Federico Chiesa. Reports suggest the pair may have discussed the situation ahead of the summer transfer window.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained that Jones would be open to a switch to the Nerazzurri and has already spoken with his Italian teammate about what life in Serie A is like.
He said: “Inter are very interested in Curtis Jones. Inter are talking to Liverpool. Inter are starting around €20m, Liverpool want more than €30m… there is still a gap, but the deal is on. [Jones] is keen on the move and Chiesa told him he asked about life in Italy.”
While the fee being mentioned may appear low for a 25-year-old England international with Premier League experience, it reflects his uncertain contract situation, with talks over a new deal reportedly making little progress. Liverpool may therefore have to consider a sale to avoid losing him for free in the near future.
If Jones is truly open to the move and has already sought Chiesa’s advice, he could push for the transfer — putting Liverpool in a difficult position.
However, the club will still be eager to keep the academy graduate, not only for squad depth and homegrown status but also for his versatility and connection to the team.
There is also hope that the arrival of Andoni Iraola could influence his decision, giving him reason to stay and assess the new project before making any final call on a move to Italy.
