Real Madrid officially announce Ibrahima Konaté signing as Liverpool respond with a blunt statement.

Liverpool have officially confirmed Ibrahima Konaté’s departure to Real Madrid, releasing a notably brief statement after the defender completed his free-transfer move to the Spanish giants.

The French centre-back will leave Anfield when his contract expires at the end of June, bringing an end to a successful five-year spell that saw him make 183 appearances and win multiple major trophies. While Liverpool acknowledged his achievements, the club stopped short of offering a traditional farewell message, instead focusing on his record and sharing Real Madrid’s announcement.

Konaté has signed a four-year contract with the Spanish side, where he is expected to play a key role in José Mourinho’s rebuilding project. Reports suggest the move comes with a substantial pay rise, making him one of the club’s highest-paid defenders.

Liverpool are now expected to explore defensive reinforcements, although highly rated youngster Jeremy Jacquet is already set to arrive as part of the club’s long-term plans.1
