Tottenham Hotspur’s hunt for a new striker has reportedly zeroed in on Sunderland and Netherlands forward Brian Brobbey — and the 24-year-old has now broken his silence on the mounting speculation.
Brobbey made an instant impact after joining Sunderland from Ajax for £25 million last summer, emerging as one of the Premier League’s most feared frontmen. His physicality, relentless work rate, aerial ability, and sharp finishing were instrumental in helping the Black Cats punch above their weight and secure a Europa League spot.
His stock rose even further at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he bagged a brace in a dominant 5-1 win over Sweden — announcing himself as a genuine force on the international stage.
Tottenham are said to be strong admirers, with club officials believing Brobbey’s profile is perfectly suited to Roberto De Zerbi’s high-intensity system. But when asked about the swirling transfer talk, the Dutch striker kept his cards close to his chest — acknowledging the flattery of being linked with big clubs while insisting his focus remains firmly on Sunderland and his own continued development.
Getting a deal done, however, will be no easy task. Sunderland see Brobbey as central to their ambitions and have absolutely no intention of letting him go cheaply. With his contract running until 2029 and the club reportedly working on an improved deal, only a bid in the £40–50 million range is likely to open any conversation.
Tottenham are not the only ones watching. Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Manchester United are all reportedly monitoring the situation — meaning Spurs could face stiff competition if they decide to make a formal move.
