Spurs Edge Closer to Blockbuster Deal After Transfer Breakthrough

Tottenham have reportedly received a boost in their chase for AC Milan winger Rafael Leão, with new claims suggesting the Portuguese star would be willing to complete a move to North London this summer if terms can be agreed.

Spurs have already had a busy window, backing Roberto De Zerbi with major additions like Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. But the Italian boss isn’t done yet — he wants one more top-class attacker to finish off his rebuilt frontline.

Leão has become a key target, and word is the player himself fancies a switch to the Premier League. TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey reported earlier this month that Spurs had marked the Milan man as a priority arrival following De Zerbi’s appointment.

Amorim gives his blessing

Reports suggest new Milan boss Ruben Amorim is open to letting Leão go, with the winger himself said to be craving a new challenge after years in Serie A.

Italian reporter Daniele Longo has since added weight to the rumours, insisting Tottenham is Leão’s number one choice. Longo claims the winger has long fantasised about playing in England and would be patient waiting for Spurs to make their move official — even without Champions League football guaranteed next term.

Price tag and De Zerbi’s role

Milan are said to want roughly €60m for the 26-year-old, leaving ENIC to decide whether to back a deal at that level. Should Spurs stump up the fee, Leão is reportedly ready to give it his blessing.

Respected Italian journalist Enzo Bucchioni has backed the momentum behind the deal too, suggesting De Zerbi himself is driving the interest — viewing Leão as the perfect fit to sharpen his attack, with genuine belief a deal can get done.

Another point in Spurs’ favour: Leão shares an agent with several figures already involved in Milan’s other transfer dealings, which could help smooth things along if talks heat up.

Romano: Milan open to a sale

Fabrizio Romano has added further encouragement, revealing Milan no longer see Leão as central to their long-term plans. Despite strong World Cup form and Amorim’s arrival, the Serie A club remains willing to sell for the right price.

Romano noted Milan can afford to entertain offers having already spent big rebuilding their squad — though they’ll still hold out for a serious fee given Leão’s quality and contract situation. Unlike Christian Pulisic, who remains central to Milan’s plans, Leão’s exit is increasingly seen as likely before the window shuts.

If Spurs can match Milan’s asking price and see off rival interest, they’d land one of Europe’s most electric attacking talents — a genuine marquee signing that would cap off De Zerbi’s ambitious summer rebuild.
