Three More Big Signings Could Complete De Zerbi’s Perfect Tottenham XI

Tottenham are experiencing one of the boldest overhauls in the Premier League this summer, as Roberto De Zerbi pushes through an ambitious rebuild aimed at dragging Spurs back into the top bracket of English football following a torrid campaign.

After narrowly avoiding the drop last season, the club’s owners have thrown their weight fully behind the new boss. Gone is the cautious spending that irritated fans in past windows — this time, Spurs have gone all-in on marquee names capable of making a difference straight away.

The shift from previous eras is hard to miss. Ange Postecoglou, José Mourinho and Antonio Conte all complained during their time in charge about the club’s unwillingness to spend big on top-tier talent. That reluctance has clearly disappeared under De Zerbi.

The Italian walked into the job with real say over transfer matters after putting pen to paper on a long-term deal, reportedly having secured firm guarantees of financial backing beforehand — promises the club have moved quickly to honour.

Even without European football to offer, Tottenham’s pull in the market hasn’t dimmed. Their “Big Six” status, top-class training facilities, financial muscle and modern stadium have all played a part in persuading in-demand players to pick North London over other suitors.

The club’s approach to negotiations has also hardened. Instead of backing off when prices rise, Spurs have shown they’re prepared to pay full value to fend off Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City for the players they want.

Defence was the starting point. Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi joined on free transfers, bringing experience and squad depth at no transfer cost. Martin Dúbravka came in as goalkeeping reinforcement, before a £52 million deal landed Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke, tipped to be a key figure in De Zerbi’s backline.

Focus then turned to the midfield, where Spurs pulled off two of the window’s standout deals, landing Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes ahead of several bigger clubs.

Those additions have reshaped the core of the team — but there’s still more business expected. With only 48 league goals scored last term, strengthening the forward line remains a priority, and Tottenham continue to be linked with attacking talent that could bring more speed, creativity and end product to De Zerbi’s side.

Three more attacking signings before deadline day could give Spurs one of their most formidable line-ups in recent memory.

A possible dream XI:

GK: Martin Dúbravka

Defence: Pedro Porro, Jan Paul van Hecke, Cristian Romero, Andy Robertson

Midfield: Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, James Maddison

Attack: Three fresh attacking additions to complete the picture, giving De Zerbi the firepower and creativity needed to chase a return to Europe.

With more elite attacking targets still on the radar, Tottenham’s summer spending may not be finished yet. Should De Zerbi land his remaining priorities, Spurs could head into the new season with a completely different mindset — no longer fighting to survive, but aiming once more to challenge at the top of the table.
