Tottenham Hotspur have thrown their hat into the ring for West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville, with Roberto De Zerbi keen to add further quality to his forward line before the summer window shuts.
A Summer of Rebuilding
Having finished 17th in the Premier League in back-to-back seasons, Spurs have used this transfer window to overhaul the squad from top to bottom. Defensively, the club has brought in Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, while Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have arrived to reshape the midfield. Between the posts, Martin Dubravka has been added as competition, with Antonin Kinsky also handed a new deal.
With those areas addressed, focus has now turned to freshening up the attack.
Competition Heating Up for Summerville
Transfer insider Ben Jacobs reports that although Tottenham are still pushing for Manchester City’s Savinho, the Brazilian isn’t the only wide option they’re exploring. Summerville has also emerged as a target, though Spurs will have to fend off interest from Manchester United and Roma to land him.
Per Jacobs, finding a genuine left-sided attacking option has become a priority for the club, and several alternatives are being weighed as the deadline approaches.
West Ham Set to Play Hardball
Despite dropping out of the Premier League last season, West Ham are said to be reluctant to part with the Dutchman easily. The Hammers reportedly value him at close to £50 million, and with Summerville tied down until 2029, they hold considerable leverage in any negotiation.
What Summerville Brings
Primarily a left-winger by trade, the 24-year-old has shown he can operate across the front line when needed. He’s recognised for his pace, tight ball control and knack for beating defenders one-on-one, while also putting in defensive shifts for the team.
Even in a difficult season for West Ham, Summerville chipped in with 10 goal involvements across all competitions. His form was strong enough to earn him a spot in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad, where he helped his country reach the knockout stage before a penalty shootout exit against Morocco.
Still seen as a player with plenty of upside despite his proven Premier League pedigree, Summerville’s blend of current ability and future potential has made him a wanted man this summer. Whether Tottenham can win the race ahead of Manchester United and Roma remains to be seen, but De Zerbi’s rebuild shows no signs of slowing down.
