Arsenal beat Tottenham to Eze a year ago, despite the playmaker reportedly being close to a Spurs move and even admitting he’d been ready to join from Crystal Palace before Arteta stepped in.
Now it looks like history could repeat itself, with the Gunners reportedly entering the race for another attacking midfielder on Roberto De Zerbi’s radar.
Arsenal join hunt for Gibbs-White
Reports last month suggested Spurs were ready to revive their interest in Morgan Gibbs-White after narrowly missing out last summer, with The Independent’s Miguel Delaney confirming Tottenham had renewed their pursuit.
But The Sun now reports that Gibbs-White has landed on Arsenal’s summer wishlist too. Arteta’s side had been chasing Morgan Rogers, but with Aston Villa determined to keep him after Champions League qualification, the former Wolves man has emerged as their alternative for the number 10 role.
PSG also circling
The Sun’s report doesn’t mention any fresh Spurs approach, but does note that Gibbs-White is also attracting interest from PSG, who’ll be keen to beat Arsenal to him after edging the Gunners on penalties in the Champions League final.
With that level of competition, Tottenham could struggle to win the race — especially with no European football to offer next season.
