Arsenal are reportedly close to completing a deal for 16-year-old striker Vincent Joseph, who is expected to leave Liverpool for the Gunners.
The highly-rated forward chose not to extend his contract at Anfield and has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal. The two clubs are now negotiating compensation, with the matter potentially going to a tribunal if an agreement cannot be reached, according to The Athletic.
Joseph has impressed during his development at Liverpool and has also represented England at youth level, making his potential departure a disappointing one for the Reds, particularly as he could join a Premier League rival.
Arsenal continue targeting young talents
Joseph could soon become another promising youngster added to Arsenal’s academy setup. The Athletic also reports that the north London club are closing in on Cardiff City teenager Axel Donczew, while Mylo Bernard is also expected to arrive at the Emirates.
Arsenal previously missed out on Jeremy Monga, who left Leicester City for Manchester City earlier this summer.
Developing young players has become increasingly important as transfer fees continue to rise. Arsenal have already benefited from their academy, with Bukayo Saka and Myles Lewis-Skelly becoming key first-team players, while Ethan Nwaneri, Max Dowman and Marli Salmon have also caught the eye.
If Joseph continues his development at Arsenal, he could eventually establish himself in the senior team or potentially generate a significant profit for the club through a future transfer.
