Arsenal are closing in on what could become their first signing of the summer, with discussions now believed to be at an advanced stage.
Fresh from ending their 22-year wait for the Premier League title, the Gunners are pushing ahead with plans to strengthen the squad and have reportedly intensified efforts to land one of England’s brightest young talents.
After a successful Champions League run that brought in more than £120 million, Arsenal are expected to be among the busiest clubs in the transfer market. Several names have been linked with a move to the Emirates, including Nathaniel Brown, Julian Alvarez, Morgan Rogers, and Junior Kroupi.
However, Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga appears to be the club’s most likely arrival at this stage. The 16-year-old winger, already one of the youngest players ever to feature in the Premier League, is said to be interested in joining Arsenal despite attracting attention from Manchester United and several other top clubs.
Reports from talkSPORT claim negotiations are progressing well, with the deal potentially exceeding £10 million. Arsenal have monitored Monga closely for some time and are now reportedly ahead of rivals such as Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester City in the race for his signature.
Despite Leicester’s relegation struggles, Monga impressed with one goal and two assists in 27 appearances. He also became the youngest goalscorer in Championship history after finding the net against Preston at the age of 16 years and 37 days.
Comfortable on either flank or in a central attacking role, Monga’s pace, creativity, and direct approach have made him an attractive prospect for Arsenal’s evolving frontline.
His performances have earned praise from several managers. Former Leicester boss Martí Cifuentes highlighted his humility, willingness to learn, and outstanding quality, while Ruud van Nistelrooy described him as a “fantastic prospect” blessed with natural ability and a promising future.
