A major Tottenham Hotspur player looks set to depart this summer, regardless of how their relegation battle plays out.
Although Spurs managed to pick up their first Premier League win of 2026 against Wolverhampton Wanderers, they remain in the bottom three. At the same time, West Ham United boosted their survival hopes with a late win over Everton, keeping them just above the drop zone.
With four games remaining, Tottenham are two points behind West Ham. However, one of their key performers is already preparing to move on. Reports from Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has agreed to return to Italy, with Inter Milan his likely destination.
Vicario, who joined from Empoli FC in 2023, has made 117 appearances and played a crucial role in Spurs’ Europa League success last season. Despite that, the club are reportedly open to selling him. Personal terms with Inter are already settled, leaving only the transfer fee for the 29-year-old to be finalized.
Inter are planning for life after Yann Sommer, whose contract expires in June, and see Vicario as their preferred replacement. Although Juventus showed interest, the Italian goalkeeper has chosen the league leaders.
The club also have emerging talent Josep Martínez, who has impressed recently, though his long-term role remains uncertain if he stays as a backup.
Tottenham originally signed Vicario for £17 million and still have two years left on his contract, but relegation could significantly reduce his market value.
Next, Spurs face Aston Villa in a crucial match on Sunday. Vicario is currently out following hernia surgery, meaning Antonín Kinský is expected to continue between the posts.
