Harry Kane addresses Tottenham return rumours as Spurs search for a new striker

Harry Kane has once again been linked with a possible return to Tottenham, particularly as Spurs continue looking for another striker. However, the England captain has made it clear that a move back to north London is not currently on his mind.

Kane left Tottenham in 2023 to join Bayern Munich, ending a long association with the club where he developed into one of the Premier League’s greatest goalscorers. Since moving to Germany, he has enjoyed tremendous individual and team success.

The 33-year-old has now won two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and the German Supercup with Bayern. He has also continued to score at an incredible rate, finishing the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign with 36 goals and another European Golden Shoe.
Despite his success in Germany, Kane’s future has continued to generate speculation because his Bayern contract is approaching its final year. Tottenham have also been mentioned as a potential destination, especially with the club searching for attacking reinforcements.
Kane, however, says his desire to return to England has diminished. He explained that when he initially left Spurs, he expected that he would eventually return to the Premier League, but his experience at Bayern has changed his perspective.
The striker admitted that he is extremely happy in Munich and that playing outside England has opened his eyes to a different footballing environment. While he has not completely ruled out a future return, he is currently focused on continuing his career with Bayern.
That will come as a blow to Tottenham supporters hoping to see their former captain back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kane remains Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer and spent virtually his entire senior career with the club before making his £100m-plus move to Bayern. He scored 213 Premier League goals for Spurs and left without winning a major trophy with the club.
There is also another major motivation for a potential Premier League return: Kane is still 47 goals short of Alan Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League goals. However, the striker has suggested that breaking that record is no longer enough to convince him to leave Bayern.
Kane’s future could become clearer in the coming months, with discussions over his Bayern contract expected to take place. At present, though, there is no urgency from either side.
While reports have also linked him with a possible move to Saudi Arabia, Kane’s immediate priority remains Bayern Munich. Al-Hilal have reportedly shown serious interest and have made him one of their preferred striker targets, but a move is far from guaranteed.
For Tottenham, the message is therefore straightforward: Kane has not completely closed the door on a return someday, but he is currently very happy at Bayern and is not actively planning a Spurs comeback.
In short, the dream of seeing Kane return to Tottenham remains alive, but it does not appear to be happening anytime soon.
