Liverpool Already Planning Mac Allister Replacement as Contact Made With Lamine Camara
Liverpool are reportedly preparing for a possible midfield change next summer, with Monaco star Lamine Camara emerging as a potential replacement for Alexis Mac Allister.
The Reds did not make signing another midfielder a major priority during this summer’s transfer window, but reports suggest they are already looking ahead to 2027 and considering changes in the position.
According to talkSPORT, Liverpool have made initial contact with Camara’s representatives regarding a possible move next summer. The Senegal international is reportedly being considered as a long-term successor to Mac Allister.
Mac Allister’s future had attracted some speculation during the summer, although his father previously dismissed suggestions that the midfielder was looking to leave Anfield.
Liverpool Could Enter Race For Camara
Camara was heavily linked with Chelsea before the summer transfer deadline, with the Blues appearing close to completing a deal for the 22-year-old.
However, the proposed transfer dramatically collapsed at the last moment after Monaco decided against allowing the midfielder to leave.
That situation could now open the door for Liverpool to make their move.
Chelsea are reportedly considering alternative targets after becoming frustrated by the way the negotiations with Monaco unfolded. Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios is said to have become one of their leading options for January.
That could benefit Liverpool if they decide to step up their interest in Camara ahead of next summer.
Liverpool Looking Ahead To Another Midfield Change
The summer transfer window saw several major Premier League clubs strengthen their midfield departments.
Manchester City added Elliot Anderson and Ayyoub Bouaddi before completing a dramatic deadline-day move for Enzo Fernandez, while Arsenal brought in Bruno Guimaraes.
Tottenham also strengthened in midfield with the additions of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, while Manchester United signed Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba.
Liverpool, meanwhile, did not make a major midfield move this time around. However, their reported interest in Camara suggests the club could be preparing for significant changes in that area next summer.
If Chelsea decide not to return for Camara, Pablo Barrios could remain another option for them, while Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is also expected to attract plenty of interest.
For Liverpool, though, Camara could now become a name to watch closely as they begin planning their midfield for the 2027/28 campaign.
