Stefan Bajcetic bids emotional farewell to Liverpool after permanent exit

Stefan Bajcetic has penned an emotional goodbye to Liverpool following his permanent move away from the club this week.

The midfielder officially returned to his former side Celta Vigo on Monday, bringing an end to his five-and-a-half-year spell on Merseyside.

Bajcetic rose quickly through Liverpool’s academy and made his senior debut in August 2022, enjoying a breakthrough campaign that appeared to mark the beginning of a promising career at Anfield.

Unfortunately, a series of injury problems disrupted his progress and made it difficult for him to establish himself in the seasons that followed.

He leaves Liverpool having made 22 senior appearances and scored once.

Taking to social media, Bajcetic admitted that saying goodbye was never something he expected to have to do.

“I never imagined writing a farewell message because Liverpool was always where I wanted to be,” he said.

The midfielder expressed his gratitude to Liverpool supporters for standing by him throughout his time at the club, particularly during the difficult periods of his career.

He acknowledged that while it is easy for fans to show support when everything is going well, Liverpool supporters continued to back him despite his struggles with injuries and setbacks.

Bajcetic explained that he had always tried to repay the faith and affection shown to him, but ultimately felt that a fresh start was the right decision for both himself and his family.

He reflected fondly on his time in England, saying the memories he created at Liverpool would remain with him for the rest of his life.

The Spaniard also revealed how much he had changed since arriving on Merseyside at just 16 years old, saying his time at the club had helped him mature both as a footballer and as a person.

One of the most touching parts of his farewell was his tribute to the Scouse family he lived with, who he said helped him understand just how special Liverpool and its people are.

Bajcetic also thanked his former teammates across the U16s, U18s, U21s and first team, describing playing alongside them as a huge privilege and saying he had formed friendships that would last a lifetime.

He went on to praise the coaches, managers and countless members of Liverpool’s backroom staff who contributed to his development during his time at the club.

From the chefs and kitchen staff to player-care teams, groundskeepers, media workers and kit staff, Bajcetic highlighted the many people behind the scenes who help make Liverpool such a special club.

He reserved further appreciation for the medical and performance teams, who supported him through the numerous injury setbacks he experienced.

Despite leaving Anfield, Bajcetic made it clear that his connection with Liverpool will never disappear.

The midfielder ended his heartfelt message with a simple but powerful statement:

“This club will stay in my heart forever. Once a Red, forever a Red.”
