Spurs supporters are heading into Monday’s home fixture against Leeds with a spring in their step, boosted in part by a favourable score prediction from pundit Chris Sutton.
De Zerbi has injected fresh momentum into Tottenham since taking charge, with successive league wins over Wolves and Aston Villa enough to haul Spurs out of the relegation places — helped along by West Ham’s 3-0 defeat to Brentford in the same gameweek. The focus now shifts to a home tie against Leeds, with De Zerbi’s side chasing a third straight league win.
In his BBC Sport column, Sutton backed Tottenham to do exactly that, tipping them to a 2-1 victory despite their poor home form this season — only relegated Burnley have a worse record at their own ground. He highlighted Spurs’ impressive display at Villa Park as a sign of growing momentum, and also noted that Leeds potentially having already secured their safety before kick-off could work in Tottenham’s favour. He predicted the same scoreline Spurs registered when the two sides met at Elland Road back in October.
Tottenham fans will also take encouragement from Sutton’s call on West Ham’s match with Arsenal, which he sees ending 3-1 to the Gunners. With the Hammers needing a win to keep pace in the survival battle, a defeat combined with a Spurs victory over Leeds could open up a four-point gap between the two clubs. Sutton pointed to Saka’s return as a boost for Arsenal’s attack and suggested West Ham’s desperate need for points could work against them.
