Europa League winner Yves Bissouma has left Tottenham Hotspur after the club confirmed his exit upon the expiry of his contract.
Roberto De Zerbi made clear at the end of last season that only 10 to 12 players featured in his long-term plans for the club — a strong hint that significant changes were coming. Bissouma, it turns out, was not among those selected few.
The Mali midfielder arrived from Brighton in the summer of 2022 and went on to make 111 appearances in all competitions during his four years in North London. His time at Spurs was a mixed one — popular with supporters and part of some fine moments, yet held back by inconsistency, costly errors, and off-field distractions that stopped him from ever nailing down a regular starting role. He scored twice in his final season and leaves the club having won the Europa League trophy.
Tottenham Make Departure Official
Questions over Bissouma’s future had lingered for much of the season, with no extension in sight and his playing time dwindling to just 11 appearances last term. He did, however, play a role during Tottenham’s Europa League run at a time when midfield depth was stretched.
Shortly after announcing a new deal for Ben Davies, the club released a brief statement confirming Bissouma’s exit: his departure marks the first senior exit of the summer as De Zerbi gets to work reshaping his squad.
Six Academy Players Also Exit
Tottenham additionally confirmed that Pele Arganese-McDermott, Tyrell Ashcroft, Leo Black, Dante Cassanova, Matthew Craig, and Calum Logan have all departed following the expiry of their respective contracts. Several came through the club’s academy and were regulars for the U21 side.
Craig had earned a senior cameo on the final day of the 2022/23 season against Leeds, while Cassanova was a frequent inclusion in first-team matchday squads throughout the 2024/25 Europa League campaign.
