Spurs Eye Surprise Move for Another Manchester City World Cup Star After Dropping Savinho Pursuit

Spurs Shift Focus to Manchester City Star Omar Marmoush After Savinho Interest Cools

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly switched their attention to another Manchester City attacker, with Egyptian international Omar Marmoush emerging as a key transfer target after talks surrounding Savinho lost momentum.

New head coach Roberto De Zerbi is determined to reshape Spurs following last season’s disappointing campaign, and the club has already strengthened several areas of the squad. However, boosting the attack remains a top priority as Tottenham continue their summer rebuild.

Despite ongoing efforts to sign Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali, Spurs are also searching for proven attacking quality. Reports suggest Marmoush has moved high up De Zerbi’s wishlist, with the Italian coach believed to be a strong admirer of the versatile forward.

Tottenham’s need for reinforcements has grown due to injuries and inconsistent form. Dejan Kulusevski is still recovering, Mohammed Kudus remains sidelined with an ACL injury, while Dominic Solanke has struggled to establish himself. Other attacking additions, including Randal Kolo Muani, Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert, have also failed to make a significant impact.

Journalist Nicolò Schira claims De Zerbi highly values Marmoush and believes the 27-year-old would receive far more playing time in North London than he currently enjoys at Manchester City.

Since arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 for around £65 million, Marmoush has contributed 22 goals and assists in 61 appearances. However, regular opportunities have been limited, with Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki ahead of him in City’s attacking pecking order.

Spurs are unlikely to have a clear path to the Egyptian, as both Barcelona and Fenerbahçe are also monitoring his situation.

For now, Marmoush remains focused on international duty, with Egypt already through to the World Cup Round of 32 and aiming to secure top spot in Group G with a positive result against Iran.
