Alasdair Gold: Tottenham target ambitious £65m move as De Zerbi’s rebuild gathers pace

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer overhaul is gathering pace. With moves for Manchester City stars Omar Marmoush and Savinho reportedly nearing completion, Roberto De Zerbi is still looking to add more firepower to his attack.

According to Football Fancast, Spurs have now identified Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as a potential target. The 24-year-old is reportedly no longer part of Xabi Alonso’s plans, while Aston Villa are also monitoring his situation as they consider alternatives amid uncertainty surrounding Ollie Watkins.

Chelsea are believed to value Jackson at around £65 million, but Tottenham could potentially negotiate a lower fee given his reduced status at Stamford Bridge and the transfer deadline approaching. Jackson spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, where he registered 15 goal contributions in all competitions, before impressing during Chelsea’s pre-season campaign.

However, Tottenham may need to offload players before making a move, especially with Marmoush and Savinho expected to join. Richarlison has been linked with a departure, although no serious deal has emerged so far. His future could play a major role in determining whether Spurs make a late push for Jackson.

If the deal happens, Jackson would provide De Zerbi with a highly adaptable attacking option. His combination of strength, movement and finishing ability makes him a threat inside the box, while his energy and pressing would fit well into De Zerbi’s tactical approach. He can also drop deeper to link up with teammates, hold the ball effectively and operate from the left flank when required.

With the transfer window now entering its final stages, Nicolas Jackson’s future could become one of the most intriguing stories to follow.
