Egypt blocked from travelling to Seattle after landmark World Cup victory over New Zealand

Egypt have been forced to alter their World Cup travel plans after being denied permission to remain in Seattle following their impressive 3-1 victory over New Zealand.

The Egyptian Football Association confirmed that the team had hoped to stay in Seattle to better prepare for their decisive Group G clash against Iran. However, security officials rejected the request, meaning the squad must return to their training base in Spokane, Washington.

Head coach Hossam Hassan explained that the decision was beyond the team’s control, saying the authorities refused their request to stay in Seattle after the New Zealand match. As a result, the delegation will head back to Spokane despite wanting to avoid extra travel and reduce player fatigue ahead of the June 26 showdown with Iran.

Egypt currently lead Group G with four points after their win over New Zealand. A victory against Iran would guarantee top spot, while even a draw could be enough to see the Pharaohs finish first in the group.
