Tottenham discreetly announce the departure of a player who featured in the squad against Borussia Dortmund.

Tottenham’s January transfer window appears to be more about departures than new arrivals.
The Lewis family are still assessing Thomas Frank’s position following a run of disappointing results, although the Dane may have earned himself some breathing room. Spurs’ 2–0 Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday has likely secured Frank’s place in the dugout for this weekend’s clash with Burnley.

While Joe Lewis has funds available to strengthen the squad, uncertainty over the manager’s future could limit further signings beyond Conor Gallagher.

Instead, Tottenham have continued to loan out young players to aid their development, with Yusuf Akhamrich the latest to depart.
Akhamrich joins Bristol Rovers on loan
Highly rated at Hotspur Way, Akhamrich has impressed throughout the academy ranks in recent seasons. His progress has not gone unnoticed by Frank, who included the 20-year-old winger in the matchday squad against Dortmund.

Spurs confirmed on Thursday that Akhamrich has joined League Two side Bristol Rovers on loan until the end of the campaign, although the club has yet to publicise the move on social media — a surprise given the excitement surrounding the forward.

Bristol Rovers first took note of Akhamrich back in August, when he starred for Tottenham’s U21s during a penalty shootout defeat, even scoring against his future club. All involved will hope the move proves beneficial.

Another academy prospect to watch
Tottenham continue to boast an impressive crop of youth talent, with Akhamrich’s rise highlighting how academy players can break into Frank’s matchday plans.

Luca Williams-Barnett is another standout performer for the U21s. Despite being just 17, the winger has delivered eye-catching numbers this season:
Games: 9
Goals: 7
Assists: 5
Williams-Barnett made his senior debut in September during Spurs’ 3–0 Carabao Cup win over Doncaster Rovers, albeit for only three minutes. Given his age and potential, he may be the brightest prospect at Hotspur Way, and a carefully chosen loan move this month could be the next logical step in his development.
